The DCMI Partners Program is intended for public- and private-sector organizations that want to financial support DCMI or provide in-kind service contributions to DCMI activities. The program offers two categories of partnership—Institutional Partner and Supporting Partner. Institutional Partners participate in deliberations and decisions regarding DCMI policy, strategy and operations.

Infocom Corporation (Japan) is a company that provides IT solutions such as planning, developing and consultation of information systems and IT services such as providing contents to mobile phones, or undertaking operation and management of various information and communication systems.
One of the products of Infocom is InfoLib, an integrated multimedia search system, that aims at effective use of all the digital information as requested by the current society.

Among the features of InfoLib are: simple and easy-to-use interfaces; database to be publicly opened with the simple operations; completely operable via WWW; Unicode supported; Dublin Core supported; XML supported; super high speed search; international Standard Z39.50 supported; OAI-PMH supported; SRW supported; adopted at many national universities, private universities, government and municipal offices.

The Research Center for Knowledge Communities (RCKC), University of Tsukuba, was established on October 1, 2002. The mission of RCKC is to conduct research on technologies and social aspects of knowledge communities in our advanced networked information societies. The major research areas of RCKC are knowledge and information technologies for the development of knowledge communities and social aspects of the knowledge communities. Another important mission of the Research Center is to serve as a global hub for researchers and practitioners in Library and Information Science and neighboring areas.

In recent years, knowledge and information shared by means of the Internet and digital libraries have significantly influenced our communities—especially those formed by sharing knowledge and intellectual interests. These knowledge-centric communities continuously evolve using new social information networking technologies and services. Thus, it is becoming more and more crucial for our networked information society to understand knowledge communities and to create technologies useful to their progress.

Partner Categories and Fees

Institutional Partner

Annual Membership Fee: USD 3,000 for one year

Benefits:

  1. Institutional Partners appoint a voting representative to the Oversight Committee and participate in governance deliberations and decisions;

  2. The logos of Institutional Partners appear on the DCMI website, DCMI annual conference and regional meetings websites and are linked to the Partners' homepages;

  3. Institutional Partner membership and renewals are announced on the DCMI website, on DCMI social media channels, and RSS feed;

  4. Institutional Partners may use the DCMI "Institutional Partner" logo on their websites and in other Institutional Partner-related media;

  5. Institutional Partners can provide information (brochures and other media) to be included in DCMI annual conference delegate bags and on USB memory drives containing the conference proceedings;

  6. One Institutional Partner representative pays reduced fees to DCMI events (DCMI annual conference, NISO/DCMI webinars);

  7. Early availability to the Institutional Partner representative of DCMI 'premium content' is available;

  8. Select Institutional Partner-organized event presentations can be arranged at DCMI annual meeting; and

  9. Institutional Partner-initiated regional events can be co-organized with DCMI (to the extent DCMI resources permit).

Obligations:

  1. Payment of a fixed annual fee on or before the anniversary date of the Institutional Partner membership;

  2. Institutional Partner actively advocates for, and advances the well-being of DCMI through the identification of new members in all DCMI membership categories; and

  3. Institutional Partner representatives actively participate in DCMI governance through contribution to Oversight Committee deliberations and voting.

Supporting Partner

Annual Membership Fee: USD 5,000 for one year

Benefits:

  1. Supporting Partner representatives may attend meetings of the Oversight Committee as observers;

  2. Name and a logo of the Supporting Partner are listed on the Partner page of the DCMI website;

  3. Name and a logo of the Supporting Partner will be listed in the Partner area of the DCMI Open Conference System website;

  4. Supporting Partner initial membership and annual renewals will be announced in the announcements section of DCMI website, distributed through the DCMI RSS feed, and through DCMI's social media outlets;

  5. Supporting Partner logos on the DCMI website and the DCMI conference website will be linked to a page on the Supporting Partner's website;

  6. The Supporting Partners have the right to use the DCMI Partner logo on its website and printed marketing material;

  7. The Supporting Partner logo will be included in all official DCMI presentations where Affiliate Members, Institutional Partners, Supporting Partners and Supporting Members are listed; and

  8. The Supporting Partner has the right to distribute two partner-provided brochures in delegate bags at the DCMI annual events.

Obligations:

  1. Payment of a fixed annual fee on or before the anniversary date of the membership.

How to Join

An organisation wishing to become a DCMI Partner needs to contact the DCMI Directorate at dcmi-feedback (at) dublincore (dot) net expressing interest.

Review and decisions

The DCMI Managing Director, in consultation with the DCMI Oversight Committee, reviews the application for new Partners and accepts or rejects the application.

Implementation

After positive decision, the applicant will receive a Partnership Agreement and, where applicable, an invoice. Agreements are concluded for one year terms and come into effect after reception of the signed agreement and, where appropriate, the payment.
