About the partner

Fondazione Rinascimento Digitale Fondazione Rinascimento Digitale The "Fondazione Rinascimento Digitale" (Digital Renaissance Foundation) was created in 2004 to promote the use of the new Information and Communication Technologies for cultural heritage applications.
One of the purpose of the Foundation is to spread international open standards, methodologies and tools for long-term preservation of digital memory.
The main projects of the Foundation are:
  • "Access to Digital Libraries": on the use of metadata in Italian Digital Libraries;
  • "Pinakes 3.0": an open source application, based on the Dublin Core metadata element, for the integration of databases of cultural heritage contents;
  • "Magazzini Digitali": creating a large infrastructure for the long-term storage of digital materials.

About the event

CULTURAL HERITAGE on line. Empowering users: an active role for user communities. 15-16 December 2009, Florence, Italy

This event took place on 15 and 16 December at the at the Teatro della Pergola, Via della Pergola 30, Florence, Italy. The event was organised by the Fondazione Rinascimento Digitale, in cooperation with the Ministero per i Beni e le Attivitą Culturali and The Library of Congress. The Dublin Core Metadata Initiative was among the Special Supporters of the Conference.

About the Tutorial

The title of the Tutorial was: Dublin Core: Building blocks for interoperability. It took place on 17 December at the Auditorium dell'Ente Cassa di Risparmio di Firenze, via Folco Portinari 5/red, in Florence, Italy. The Tutorial was organised by the Fondazione Rinascimento Digitale, in cooperation with DCMI.
