DCMI Architecture Working Group Wiki

Charter:	The objectives of the working group are to discuss and develop a model, strategy and roadmap for the practical deployment of Dublin Core metadata using mainstream Web technologies (XML/RDF/XHTML).

IMPORTANT: Do not cite materials in this Wiki other than for the purposes of collaborating on document creation. This Wiki is intended to be used to work on draft copies of documents. Finished documents will be published, in a persistent and citable form, on the DCMI Web site (or elsewhere in some cases).

Please announce any significant changes to this Wiki via the DC-ARCHITECTURE@jiscmail.ac.uk list.

This Wiki supports the work of the DCMI Architecture Working Group.

Workplan

Develop a short document for RDF implementors, clarifying the resource vs. literal string value issue and providing advice on best practice.
Consider possible RDF encoding changes (in light of above issue), carry out an impact analysis and make recommendations.
Finalise the provision of a persistent URI for the latest version of our XML schemes.
Develop an XML binding for Dublin Core metadata which supports all (or a substantial subset) of the features of the DCMI Abstract Model. Revise DCMI XML schemas accordingly.
Finalise revisions to the Namespace Policy for the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) to align use of terminology with other DCMI recommendations.
Evaluate use of GRDDL as mechanism for transforming arbitrary DC/XML documents into RDF (DCMI Abstract Model).
Monitor W3C developments for encoding RDF in XHTML and revise current DC/XHTML guidelines as necessary.
Develop abstract model of 'DC application profiles'.
Consider developing a representation of the DCMI Box, Period and Point encoding schemes using the DCMI Abstract Model.
