DCMI Abstract Model (DCAM)

• 2007-06-04. "DCMI Abstract Model" is DCMI Recommendation

• No current plans for revision.

DC-RDF

• 2006-05-29. "Expressing Dublin Core metadata using the Resource Description Framework (RDF)" is posted for Public Comment from 30 May to 27 June 2006.

• 2007-06-04. "Expressing Dublin Core metadata using the Resource Description Framework (RDF)" is published as a DCMI Proposed Recommendation, superseding the legacy "Expressing Qualified Dublin Core in RDF/XML" of 2002-05-15.

• 2007-08-14. With publication of revised DCMI Metadata Terms, which formally declares fifteen new elements in the dcterms: namespace, DC-RDF becomes a DCMI Recommendation

• Note: The legacy specification "Expressing Simple Dublin Core in RDF/XML" of 2002-07-31 is superseded by the new DCMI Recommendation.

Declarations of DCMI metadata terms in RDF

• 2008-01-14. New RDF schemas published for the DCMI namespaces http://purl.org/dc/elements/1.1/, http://purl.org/dc/terms/, http://purl.org/dc/dcmitype/, and http://purl.org/dc/dcam/, with domains and ranges for properties and with terminology aligned with DCMI Abstract Model. These changes were also reflected in the revised specification DCMI Metadata Terms (see also Domains and Ranges for DCMI Properties).

• Note: DCMI term declarations represented in RDF schema language are discussed in an explanatory note.

DC-HTML

• 2007-11-05. Legacy "Expressing Dublin Core in HTML/XHTML meta and link elements" of 2003-11-30 is replaced by a revised DCMI Proposed Recommendation for Public Comment.

• 2007-12-03. Public Comment closes on "Expressing Dublin Core metadata using HTML/XHTML meta and link elements" ([ http://dublincore.org/documents/2007/11/05/dc-html/ DC-HTML)].

• 2007-12-15. Advancement to "DCMI Recommendation" is contingent on completion of "Notes on expressing Dublin Core metadata in HTML and XHTML" as a note on "backwards compatibility".

DC-XML

• 2003-04-02. "Guidelines for implementing Dublin Core in XML" is published as a DCMI Recommendation.

• 2005-09-11. "DC-XML and the DCMI Abstract Model", Pete Johnston (working document with no status in DCMI).

• 2006-05-16. Draft "Expressing Dublin Core in XML" posted on the wiki.

• 2006-06-27. "Expressing Dublin Core metadata in XML" was posted for public comment from 30 May to 27 June 2006. The specification was accompanied by a set of example XML schemas; an additional document "DC-XML and XML Schema" about "customizing the schemas for various application profiles"; and an XSLT stylesheet for using GRDDL to extract RDF/XML from DC-XML (see also the summary of comments). Accompanying material included example base W3C XML schemas, example application profile schemas, example DC-XML instances documents, release notes, a note on how W3C XML schema may be used to describe the DC-XML XML format, XSLT transforms for DC-XML, and issues in the draft (as of May 2006).

• 2006-09-18. Draft guidelines are posted on the wiki, differentiating between "DC-XML Full" (with its instance documents) and "DC-XML Minimum" (with its instance documents).

• 2007-12-05: As of December 2007, the Architecture Forum is moving forward with "full" format and discussing requirements for a "minimal" format on the mailing list. See 2007-12-17 version.

• Note: XML schemas to support the Guidelines for implementing DC in XML recommendation are discussed in an explanatory note.

DC-TEXT

• 2007-12-03. "Expressing Dublin Core metadata using the DC-Text format" published as a DCMI Recommended Resource

Singapore Framework

• 2007-08-27. Mikael Nilsson presents work on Description Set Profiles at DC-2007 in Singapore. Slide 9 is later called "Singapore Framework".

• 2007-09-18. Diagrams and links for the "Singapore Framework" are posted on wiki.

• 2008-01-14. "Singapore Framework" posted at a stable URI.

Description Set Profile

• 2007-12-14. "DCMI Description Set Profile", a wiki document, is ready for Public Comment early in 2008.

• 2007-12-14. "Draft Wiki format for Description Set Profile", a wiki document, is ready for Public Comment early in 2008.

DCMI Namespace Policy

• 2007-07-02. "Namespace Policy for the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI)" is published as a DCMI Recommendation with a new namespace http://purl.org/dc/dcam/ and with language aligned with the current DCMI Abstract Model.

Outreach and communication

• 2007-08-28. In the Singapore DC-ARCH meeting the following outreach and liaison needs were identified:

• Analyse/implement GRDDL specification

• Analyse and discuss RDFa (DC-in-HTML, CURIEs)

• Keep contact with Semantic Web Coordination Group (RDF & OWL issues)

• ISO/IEC CD TR 29111 and Expressing Dublin Core Metadata using Topic Maps

Other notes and issues

• 2006-06-21. Draft Guidelines for using resource identifiers in Dublin Core metadata

• 2007-10-30. Does the Architecture Forum need a general policy for migration and backward compatibility?

• 2008-01-10. DC-RDF does not print out well: Appendix A and some diagrams are too wide and get truncated; may need to be adjusted.

• 2008-01-14. Use "in-range-of" as FOAF does: http://xmlns.com/foaf/spec/#term_Document
