Furthermore, three different applications of DC.Relation have been specified:

DC.Relation.HasPart List of files in the resource (file list)
DC.Relation.Requires List of program(s) necessary for using the resource

INDOREG

Internet Documents Registration as part of the national bibliography.

1. Project period was 1996-97. Danish National Library Authority funded the project.

The main objects for the project were to find a solution for registration of Internet documents at national bibliographical level.

The result of the project is these Recommendations:

Not even pictures of you and your dog are relevant. But in both cases the basic principles of national bibliographic registration are useful. Commercials, private papers and most local print are parts of national bibliographic registration – and the same items in electronic form are not candidates for national bibliographic registration.

Net Publications

The Danish Ministry of Research and Information Technology and The Danish State Information Service has worked out a standard describing how the publications shall be encoded. It is published in Net Publications in 1997.

The publications include guidelines for how to produce web publications. One recommendation is always to have a HTML page with metadata – human and machine-readable – even if the resource itself is PDF.

All new publications issued by Danish ministries, government offices and agencies must be published on WWW with metadata as part of the publication, parallel with the printed version.

The Danish State Information Service has in this autumn published a new edition of Net Publications. The chapter with metadata format is replaced by a link to Danish Dublin Core.

Metadata format was not Dublin Core, but was a specific format inspired by Dublin Core. The Danish Dublin Core now replaces this format.

INDOREG 2

Internet Documents Registration – 2. Project period 1998-99. Danish National Library Authority funds the project.

In 1999 a follow up has been published: Indoreg 2: Registration of static and dynamic publications and electronic periodical articles in which experiences are presented, gained from the work with Internet publications during the latest years. In addition the report contains a complete separate part, dealing with the registration of electronic articles. The report operate with 3 types of publications:

1. Static publications - corresponding to traditionally published books, pamphlets, reports, etc.
2. Dynamic publications - are ongoing like databases, homepages, etc.
3. Electronic periodical articles

The work described has accomplished that an increasing quantity of Internet publications relevant to libraries is included in the Danish National Bibliography.

This project is in practice a preparation for a broader definition of legal deposit.

Legal deposit

All Danish static documents on the Internet are since 1st January 1998 subject to legal deposit. Static documents are publications not which are not intended to be changed. Producers of these documents must register the documents on an electronic application form on The Royal Librarys webserver and provide with the necessary access codes and other relevant information, which would be, needed in order to access the works. This form is now based on Danish Dublin Core.

Guidelines

To support use of Danish Dublin Core the Danish National Library Authority has published Metadata in Danish net publications. Technical description:

Metadata i danske netpublikationer. Teknisk beskrivelse
http://www.bs.dk/publikationer/vejledninger/2/index.htm

The target group is Web designers and major publishing houses with a view to supporting the generation of metadata as an integrated part of the creation of a document. The idea is that only if the creation of metadata is integrated with the creation of the document will it become a common thing to do

This publication is be followed by Metadata in Danish net publications. Guidelines. The target group is anyone who has to create metadata as an integrated part of the creation of documents.
