The DC-Ed AP Wiki Version

Stemming from the face-to-face meetings in Madrid at DC-2005, it was decided that the Drafting Committee would concentrate its work on those DCMI properties particular to the education domain--dcterms:audience, dcterms:educationLevel (sub-property of dcterms:audience), dcterms:instructionalMethods, and dcterms:mediator (sub-property of dcterms:audience).

The wiki version of the DC-Ed AP is the "sandbox" version for the use of the Drafting Committee. Because of its size, it is divided alphabetically as follows:

• A-C

• D-F

• G-L

• M-R

• S-Z

with all elements and element refinements in one alphabet. Encoding schemes will be integrated as they're determined.

General notes regarding all elements:

• Either a Title or Identifier are mandatory (Identifier is mandatory if applicable). [Diane: I'm not convinced that titles should be mandatory. If they were to be mandatory, we would need to include guidelines on supplying titles where none existed--which is routinely done in libraries but not in most other domains.]

• If the record is expressed in a format (e.g., HTML) that allows each element/qualifier/scheme value to be assigned a language attribute (e.g., the HTML tag lang="en"), the use of the attribute is permittedfor any or all DC elements.

• All elements may be used in their unqualified form. If using qualified Dublin Core, additional guidelines are given.

• Any encoding scheme that has a URI defined in a non-DCMI namespace may be used. Where applicable a table has been created for each encoding scheme in a separate section following the main body of tables for elements and refinements.
