DCMI Registry Working Group Status Report http://dublincore.org/groups/registry/ July 2004 Co-chairs of DCMI Registry Working Group: Rachel Heery, UKOLN, University of Bath Harry Wagner, OCLC The working group activity has focused on the following during the past year: - Published a new working group charter - Added support for a REST (HTTP) style application interface - Installed 1 distributed registry at the Library of the Chinese Academy of Science, in Beijing, China - Published an installation guide - Added metadata translations for Czech and Welsh - Added a Ukrainian translation for the user interface - Implemented several minor, and 1 major, new versions of the registry, which includes: - An updated user interface - Improvements in the management of provenance information - Improved method for illustrating the relationship between terms, encoding schemes and controlled vocabulary terms - Encoding examples in both XML and RDF/XML - Easy access to RDF/XML, N-TRIPLE and N3 views of results from the detail screen - A change to the way canonical definitions for terms are managed - Numerous updates to the administrative component to simplify installation & maintenance - Ontology support for OWL and DAML/OIL (provided by upgrade to Jena 2.0) There are no outstanding issues. The working group activity will focus on the following for the next year: - Promoting further distributed installations - Evaluating requirements for additional ontology support (i.e., OWL) - Revise the canonical definition structure to a more hierarchical structure - Adding additional internationalization tools - Evaluate requirements for additional administration modules
