• John: announced new ERC/ANVL module conversion framework (XML, Turtle, JSON, plain text), preserving line numbers and comments, and state of documentation http://jak-desktop.ad.ucop.edu/specs/anvl.html

• discussed Bill's follow-on questions and Pete's responses

• Jane: unsure about need for redundant formalizations

• Adrian: agreed with desire for KAP group to give priority to concrete conversion over DSP development

• proposal to break current ERC spec into an ANVL spec and a smaller ERC spec, and then add to the latter the beginnings of a usage guide for at least three classes of repository depositor:

• unfunded depositors with little or no metadata

• those with legacy metadata, possibly rich metadata, with some ability to script transformations to Kernel

• well-funded depositors ready to create metadata and want the repository manager to specify ideal metadata

• Bill: open to students testing ERC guidelines

• Charles: sees need in his organization for metadata to provide consistent searching across a repository and explicit directions for production of descriptive metadata
