The Manzanillo Framework for Metadata Interoperability is an overarching model describing how the different DCMI specifications interact with the vocabularies (DCMI and external).

It was first presented at DC2006 in Manzanillo. The paper Towards an Interoperability Framework for Metadata Standards discusses the idea in some detail.
