Another great example
Jennifer Trant pointed me to Sebastian Chan's work on OPAC2.0 at the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney. OPAC2.0 has provided access to 62,000 object records, with intelligent search tools, serendipity tools and the ability for users to self-classify using folksonomies. He reports a 100% increase in on-line visitors, looking at thousands of different objects - his blog report is a fantastic read. Well worth a look.
