  • DC-2001: International Conference on Dublin Core and Metadata Applications, October 22-26, 2001, Tokyo, Japan
  • 2001-09-21, Two new documents are now available for public comment.
  • These two documents describe how Dublin Core metadata can be encoded in RDF/XML, and give practical examples.

    Together with the DCMI Namespace Policy, also under review, we consider these basic documents necessary for the effective deployment of Dublin Core on the Web. The public comment period is open until October 19, 2001.Comments should be sent to the DC-General Mailing List.

  • 2001-09-20, DCMI-Government Application Profile is now available for comment.
  • A working draft for a DCMI-Government Application Profile is now available. This working draft was prepared by the Managing Information for e-Government (MIReG) group in conjunction with the DCMI-Government working group. The Working Group behind the working draft thanks everybody who has contributed and commented on the initial proposal. The intention is to submit a proposal to the DCMI Usage Board before the Tokyo Conference. The working group is still interested in comments, as soon as possible. Mailto: DC-Government mailing list.

  • 2001-09-18, Namespace Policy for the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) is now available for public comment.
  • The DCMI Directorate is pleased to announce that the document "Namespace Policy for the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI)" is now available for public comment until October 19, 2001. Comments should be sent to the DC-General Mailing list. This document specifies the conventions used for identifying current and future DCMI namespaces. It gives the URIs for the DCMI namespaces, defines a policy for changes to DCMI terms and discusses some major issues that were raised during the development of the namespace policy. It has been developed by a group of experts and reviewed by the DCMI Advisory Committee. We consider this one of the basic documents necessary for the effective deployment of Dublin Core on the Web

  • 2001-09-17, Administrative Dublin Core (A-Core) Elements Proposal.

    This proposal is now available for discussion in the DCMI Administrative Metadata Working Group. Based on the discussion, the authors will revise the document and present a new version at the DC-9 Workshop in Tokyo in October 2001.

  • 2001-09-20 DCMI-Libraries Working Group meeting notes are now available. This meeting was an official DCMI-Libraries WG event that was held in conjunction with the International Federation of Library Associations conference. The main topic on the agenda was a discussion of the draft Dublin Core Library Application Profile

  • 2001-08-21 New Tool: MKDoc MKDoc is a web site content management system that can produce HTML and RDF qualified Dublin Core metadata for every document. It also supports Dublin Core metadata via the generation of RSS 1.0 syndication feeds. More Information...
  • 2001-08-04 New Project: ExLibris Special Collections Directory. The ExLibris Special Collections Directory seeks to provide a comprehensive directory of special collections libraries that support digitization and make content such as manuscripts, art images, and electronic texts available over the Internet.

Web Site Changes

  • Usage Board files have been moved from the dublincore.org/groups/usage/ directory to the dublincore.org/usage/ directory. Some files and directories have also been renamed.
