The Dublin Core Metadata Initiative is an open organization engaged in the development of interoperable online metadata standards that support a broad range of purposes and business models. DCMI's activities include work on architecture and modeling, discussions and collaborative work in DCMI Communities and DCMI Task Groups, annual conferences and workshops, standards liaison, and educational efforts to promote widespread acceptance of metadata standards and practices. DC-2009 papers and presentations published

2009-11-02, The DC-2009 conference, held in Seoul, Korea, 12-16 October 2009, featured high quality tutorials, keynotes, conference papers and workshop sessions. The event was attended by around 100 participants from 18 countries and territories who engaged in lively discussions around the theme of Semantic Interoperability of Linked Data. The conference proceedings are available in the DCMI Conference Paper Repository and many of the presentations are linked from the program page on the conference Web site. DCMI wishes to thank the National Library of Korea and the Korean Library Association for the splendid organization of the event.

DC-2010 to be held in Pittsburgh, 20-22 October 2010

2009-10-14, DCMI is pleased to announce that DC-2010 will take place 20-22 October 2010 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. The conference will be held in conjunction with the Annual Meeting of the American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) which is scheduled for 24-27 October 2010 in the same location. Further announcements will be released in the coming months. See the conference flyer.

2009-10-06, The DCMI home page http://dublincore.org/ has been redesigned with four new "landing pages": Metadata Basics, DCMI Specifications, Community and Events, About Us, and a new Site Map.

Dublin Core Tutorial to be held on 17 December 2009 in Florence, Italy

2009-09-28, The Fondazione Rinascimento Digitale, a DCMI Gold Partner in 2008-2009, has agreed to be a Local Tutorial Partner under the DCMI Partnership Program. The Fondazione, in cooperation with DCMI, is organizing a Dublin Core Tutorial on 17 December 2009 in Florence under the title "Dublin Core: building blocks for interoperability". This Tutorial will take place on the day after the Conference "CULTURAL HERITAGE on line: Empowering users: an active role for user communities" on 15-16 December 2009.
