Steve is Director of Information Work Business Value where his team delivers business value solutions that build trust, create involvement and demonstrate evidence to show the business value of Microsoft Information Worker products. His responsibilities include leading the Center for Information Work and the Information Work Productivity Council.
Steve joined Microsoft in 1997 where he was one of the founders of the Electronic Book initiative at Microsoft whose goal was to create a compelling alternative to the paper book and resulted in numerous products including the Microsoft Reader and Cleartype as well as the DRM technologies used in Microsoft Office and Windows Desktop and Server products. In 2002, he led the formation of the Microsoft Information Worker Solutions group which focused on enterprise solutions for Microsoft's largest customers. Before joining Microsoft, Steve was general manager for Spyglass Corporation's Champaign, Illinois Business Group. While there, he led the effort in the creation of the Spyglass NCSA Mosaic products, the first production desktop web browser and embedded browser in the industry.
Steve has twenty-eight years experience in the software and computer industry having held senior software management and development engineering positions with Microsoft, Spyglass, Intergraph Corporation as well as NCR.
Steve holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of South Carolina as well as an MBA also from the University of South Carolina. He currently serves on the national board of directors for the Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic, Inc.
