Special Session: Metadata Value Spaces
Session Organizer:
Joseph T. Tennis,
Information School, University of Washington.
More and more controlled vocabularies, or values, are being
used in the networked environment. This session will explore the relationship
between metadata structures and values. This special session will discuss the
traditions and innovations in controlled vocabulary use in the networked
environment. It will look at questions like: how does bibliographic
classification change in the networked environment? How do registries figure
into the use of and interpretation of values in metadata? And how do we
evaluate the use of controlled vocabularies in the networked environment?
