AIRPORT

Singapore’s Changi Airport is recognized as one of the best airports in the world, with over 80 airlines serving from more than 180 cities in over 50 countries.  The airport is 20km from the city.  Getting to the city from the airport is easy, and taxis are plentiful.

CLIMATE

The island is warm and humid all year round, with only slight variations in the average maximum of 31°C and minimum of 23°C.  However, Singapore is sheltered from the worst effects of the sun with air-conditioning in almost all of its buildings.  Rain falls throughout the year, with more consistent rain coming during the monsoon season from November to January.

MONEY
The local currency is Singapore dollars and cents.  Notes come in denominations of $2, $5, $10, $20, $50, $100, $500, $1,000, and $10,000.  Coins come in denominations of 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents, and $1.  Major credit cards are widely accepted.  Banking hours are Mondays to Fridays: 1000 hrs to 1500 hrs; Saturdays: 0930 hrs to 1300 hrs.  Apart from banks and hotels, money can be changed wherever the sign "Licensed Money Changer" is displayed.  Currency exchange is also available at the arrival halls at the airport.

MOBILE PHONES

There are two mobile phone networks, GSM900 and GSM1800, and three mobile telephone service providers, SingTel, M1 and StarHub.  To make international calls, the access codes are 001, 013, or 019 for SingTel, 002 or 021 for M1, and 008 or 018 for StarHub.

Singapore voltage is 220-240 volts AC, 50 cycles per second.  Electrical plugs and outlets are as illustrated.
