Poster Set-up Instructions 

The Poster session will be held in the main room starting on Thursday, Oct. 21 at 12:30pm when posters will be introduced through Friday, Oct. 22 at 6:00pm when the conference ends.

Each poster presenter will be able to display their poster on a rectangular board measuring 4 feet high by 8 feet wide.  Spaces will not assigned, so you may choose your board location as soon as the room is available.  

Set-up:  Thursday, 10:45 - 11:15am

Display Time:  Thursday, 12:30pm (Poster Introductions) - Friday, 6pm (end of conference)

Break Down:  Friday, 6:00pm

Poster Introduction Session:  Thursday, 12:30 - 1:00pm (Main Room). During the Poster Introduction session, each poster presenter will be given 1-3 minutes to introduce their poster. Each presenter needs to prepare an introductory PowerPoint limited to two-three (2-3) cells using the PowerPoint template available here. Send your finished PowerPoint file to Michael Lauruhn as an email attachment at mlauruhn@taxonomystrategies.com by 11 October 2010.

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Please prepare all materials in advance. We will not print and mount posters or copy handouts.  We will provide push pins, but if you need other materials to attach your poster, please bring these with you.

  2. Small tables will be provided for each poster.

  3. Access to electrical outlets will be extremely limited. If you absolutely must have electricity, please contact Michael Lauruhn at mlauruhn@taxonomystrategies.com as soon as possible.

  4. Poster Design Instructions:
    • Lettering should be simple, bold, and easily legible from a distance of 4 feet. Lettering for the title should be at least 1.5 inches high. Under the heading, include the names of authors and their affiliations in smaller lettering.

    • In the body text, keep the number of words to a minimum: please remember that this is not a paper. Arrange the elements in a logical sequence: introduction or statement of the problem or issue, objectives of the research or project, methodology used, major findings or outcomes, interpretations or significance of findings or outcomes, and conclusions. Use numbers if necessary to ensure that readers can follow the sequence.

    • Illustrations and color will enhance the effectiveness of your presentation. Tables, figures, and photographs are encouraged. While you should consider graphic impact, note that simplicity and legibility are more important than artistic embellishments. The background of the poster may be any color, so long as there is a strong light-dark contrast between background and lettering. The boards provided for mounting posters are usually beige or white.
