DCU | 2021 | DCMI is a signatory member of Data Standards United, a collaborative of data standards development organizations that seeks to foster collaboration and alignment standards to support the global education and workforce digital ecosystem. |
W3C | 1997 | DCMI has been engaged with W3C since the mid 1990s, and "Dublin Core metadata" was featured as a usage example in the Resource Description Framework (RDF) Model and Syntax Specification of 1999. DCMI is currently an institutional member of W3C and is thus represented on the W3C Advisory Committee. |
ASIS&T | 2013 | DCMI is a project of The Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS&T) according to a formal agreement. |
ISO | 2001 | Starting in 2001, and in parallel to these standardization efforts, DCMI as an organization has been registered as a liaison to various ISO committees |
The FOAF Project | 2011 | Friend of a Friend (FOAF) is a widely-used vocabulary of terms related to the description of people. DCMI has a long-running good neighbour agreement with FOAF. This agreement outlines specific measures to be undertaken in cooperation between DCMI and the FOAF Project - measures which are primarily intended to assure the sustainability of the FOAF namespace. |

NISO | 2001 | The Dublin Core metadata element set was published by the National Information Standards Organization (NISO) in 2001 as ANSI/NISO Z39.85. The standard has periodically been revised and republished, most recently in 2013. |
