Abstract:

Linked Data as a reality is approaching by giant steps. More and more organizations, including the National Library of Israel (NLI), are embracing Wikidata as a stepping stone to a linked data world. This presentation will discuss how NLI is working to bridge the gap between cataloging workflows and Wikidata work and the impact of the COVID-19 related lockdown on our plans. We will also discuss the associated costs and the benefits which accrue to NLI from incorporating Wikidata into our best practices. The intended audience includes catalogers, Wikidata enthusiasts, and those interested in multi-cultural metadata as social justice work.
