Alasdair MacDonald is the Metadata and University Collections Facility Manager at Edinburgh University Library, where he has worked since 2014. He is the manger of the Metadata Team, which provides a centralised bibliographic cataloguing service to all Library sites, and also manages the Library's offsite collections store. Alasdair is the current Chair of the DCMI Governing Board and Vice Chair of the CILIP Metadata and Discovery Group Scotland Committee. He has previously held posts at the Bodleian Library and National Library of Scotland.

Update on DC Academy
The DC Academy was launched in September. The goal of DC academy is to function as a vehicle to engage the communities of metadata through training programs. This update will present the mission and goals of DC Academy and share the vision of future development for this new initiative. DC Academy has scheduled a free webinar on October 10 at 12:48 PM Eastern time as the launching event that focuses on metadata, linked data, and AI. As a new endeavor, policies, guidelines, and procedures related to the operation and administration of DC Academy are being developed. We will use this update on DC Academy as a venue to solicit input and welcome feedback from the community.

Jian Qin
Syracuse University
Jian Qin is Professor of the iSchool at Syracuse University. She conducts research in metadata, knowledge modeling and representation, ontologies, research collaboration networks, research impact assessment, and data curation. Jian Qin directs a Metadata Lab, a research group focusing on big metadata analytics and knowledge modeling. Her research has received funding from US NSF, NIH, IMLS, among others. She publishes widely with more than 100 journal and conference papers in the field of information science, scientometrics, knowledge organization, and metadata and been invited to give keynotes, lectures, and presentations at conferences and institutions inside and outside of the U.S. She is the co-author of the book Metadata and co-editor for several special journal issues on knowledge discovery in databases and knowledge representation. Jian Qin has served as the DCMI conference program chair and track chair and as the member/chair of numerous other conference program committees, including ASIST, iConference, JCDL, among others. She received the 2020 Frederick G. Kilgour Award for Research in Library and Information Technology. Jian Qin holds a Ph.D. from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Mark Paris is the Associate University Librarian for Scholarly Resources & Discovery at Brandeis University. In this role, he leads collections, interlibrary loan, scholarly communications, systems, and technical services. Mark brings over 20 years of experience encompassing library and library-adjacent work in the vendor world. He is passionate about libraries and is guided by a firm belief in the value they bring to their parent organizations through partnership and collaboration.
Report from the DCMI Education Committee
The DCMI Education Committee, with 22 members from countries and regions span the globe, coordinates activities and resources that can be used to teach and inform users about current developments and technologies for metadata. This report will give a summary of the main activities and the products from the five task groups of the Education Committee.

Marcia Lei Zeng
Kent State University
Marcia Lei Zeng is a Professor of Information Science at Kent State University (USA). Her primary research interests include knowledge organization systems, linked data, metadata, smart data and big data, semantic technologies, and digital humanities. She has authored over 100 research papers and six books. Her research projects have received funding from the NSF, IMLS, OCLC, Fulbright, and other organizations. She has chaired and served on committees, working groups, and executive boards including IFLA, SLA, ASIS&T, NISO, ISO, DCMI, ISKO, iSchools, and W3C. Currently, she is chairing the DCMI Education Committee, while serving as a member of the DCMI Governing Board and ISKO Board of Directors.
DC-SRAP Working Group: Activities 2023/2024
Alasdair MacDonald reports on the work of the DCMI Scholarly Resources Application Profile Working Group for the year to October 2024, which has included developing the application profile in DC-TAP format, representing published articles as parts of journals or monographs and recording details of grants and funding bodies.
