Tom Baker
Tom Baker has worked on metadata and Semantic Web standards since the late 1990s, when he helped start the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative for which he currently serves as DCMI Technology Director and Usage Board Chair. He co-chaired the W3C working group that published Simple Knowledge Organization System (SKOS) in 2009 and contributes to the development of Shape Expressions language (ShEx). Tom has consulted on Semantic Web projects, notably about concept schemes in agriculture. He has worked over the years as a researcher at institutes in Italy and in Germany, notably GMD, Fraunhofer Society, and Goettingen State Library. Tom has an MLS from Rutgers University, an MA and PhD from Stanford University, and has taught at Asian Institute of Technology (Bangkok) and Sungkyunkwan University (Seoul).
