    Mike Lauruhn is a librarian working as Senior Metadata Specialist at McGraw Hill Education. He is based in Portland, Oregon, United States and currently works on initiatives related to enterprise metadata, taxonomies and ontologies, and shared data.

    Before joining McGraw Hill in 2024, he worked at Elsevier as a Data Architect and Research Technology Director within Elsevier Laba. Prior to that, Mike consulted to numerous private companies, nonprofits, and government agencies to help define and implement taxonomies and metadata schemas. He began his library career cataloging for the California Newspaper Project at the Center for Bibliographic Studies & Research at the University of California, Riverside.

    Mike received his M.L.S. from UCLA. He is active in the DCMI community, was a member of the Education & Outreach Committee's Linked Data for Professional Education (LD4PE) initiative, and served as co-Program Chair for the DCMI annual conference in 2010 (Pittsburgh) and again in 2017 (Washington DC).
